Welcome to our little corner of St. Thomas!
At Sapphire Provisioning, we believe some of the best vacation days are the simplest ones—a beautiful beach, clear Caribbean water, a comfortable chair, something cold in the cooler, and nowhere you need to be.
We started Sapphire Provisioning to make enjoying those days a little easier. Instead of packing bulky beach gear, buying equipment when you arrive, or spending your vacation tracking down what you need, you can rent ahead and have your beach gear delivered to you.
But we also want to share a little more than beach gear. We live here, work here, and spend a lot of time exploring the island. Through our blog, we'll share some of our favorite beaches, snorkeling spots, island tips, things to do, and helpful advice for making the most of your time on St. Thomas.
And what better way to start than with the reason so many of us love the Virgin Islands in the first place—the beaches!

3 St. Thomas We Love — And What to Bring for the Perfect Beach Day
1. Sapphire Beach
Sapphire Beach is home to us, so of course it has to be first on our list!
Sapphire Beach is one of our favorite all-around beach days on St. Thomas. You get beautiful Caribbean water, incredible views of St. John and the surrounding islands, and opportunities to snorkel right from the beach.
One of our favorite things about Sapphire is that you can make an entire day of it. Grab a chair, find your spot in the sand, keep your drinks cold, and head into the water whenever you're ready to explore.
Get Out Early for a Morning Snorkel
One of our favorite Sapphire Beach tips is to get out early for a morning snorkel.
The beach and water tend to be quieter in the morning, and it's a great time to see some really cool marine life. Keep an eye out for sea turtles, eagle rays and a variety of tropical fish.
Take your time, look around and remember that you're visiting their home. Enjoy the wildlife from a respectful distance and never chase or touch marine life.

One of the best parts about renting snorkel gear for your vacation is that you're not limited to using it at just one beach. Keep it with you during your rental period and take it along while you explore other snorkeling spots around St. Thomas.
2. Lindquist Beach at Smith Bay Park
Lindquist Beach at Smith Bay Park is one of those places that reminds you exactly why you came to the Virgin Islands. Beautiful turquoise water, soft white sand and a more natural setting make it one of our favorite beaches on St. Thomas.
There is a small entrance fee to Smith Bay Park, which helps maintain the bathrooms, grounds and beach area.
One important thing to know before heading to Lindquist: there are no restaurants or places to grab food and drinks at the beach, so come prepared!
Pack your lunch, snacks, plenty of water and some cold drinks in your cooler. Once you find your perfect spot, you'll have everything you need to settle in and enjoy the day without having to leave.
Lindquist is a great beach for slowing down, enjoying the water and spending a few hours soaking up a beautiful St. Thomas beach day.
3. Magen’s Bay
You really can’t talk about St. Thomas beaches without mentioning Magen’s Bay. It’s one of the island’s most iconic beaches, known for its long stretch of sand, beautiful surrounding hills and typically calm water. It’s a great choice for families, swimming, floating or simply settling into your chair and enjoying a laid-back beach day.
There is a small entrance fee, which helps with the maintenance and preservation of the park. You’ll also find bathrooms, showers and other amenities, making Magen’s an easy place to spend several hours—or the whole day.
A Little Local Tip 🌴
Keep in mind that Magen’s Bay is a pretty big beach. When you first enter, the beach bar and food concessions are right near the main entrance. You can buy food and drinks there or pack your own lunch, snacks and cold drinks in your cooler.
On cruise ship days, the area around the beach bar and main entrance can get pretty crowded. If you’re looking for a little more space and a quieter beach day, head toward the left side of the beach and find your spot away from the main crowd.
